Description – This project involved the alterations to an existing dry riser across two tower blocks of residential units. The existing dry riser space was now occupied with power, data and telecomms installations. This was deemed not fit for purpose by the local Fire Service. An initial design was proposed by our client and from here the design was developed and signed off by the local Fire Service as fit for purpose.

The works involved removing the existing riser door, extending the dry riser outlet to the front of the riser space, installation of fire rated batt around the dry riser pipe and introduction of new plasterboard frontage to the riser space. This was decorated and finished off with a bespoke sized fire rated access hatch to access all of the services and a dry riser cabinet frontage to allow access to the dry riser outlet.

Difficulties were encountered in some of the locations during our initial project survey with regards to low level data and telecomms installations. These were moved locally and were captured ahead of the installation so as not to affect the critical path of the programme. Once all of the works were complete each installation was tested and signed off by the local Fire Service.
