We were employed by Colliers CRE to replace all the windows at Hilti’s head office at Trafford Park with a Schuco system.
All offices remained fully occupied and operational during the contract. We therefore had to access offices working closely with Hilti’s building manager. We installed a movable hording over three number windows in the open plans office first thing before staff started works and moved this along each night to ensure segregation when replacing windows in sections. Continual liaison between MBC’s site manager was critical to the scheme ensuring meeting rooms were booked out around Hilti’s operations when replacing windows to meeting rooms.
As part of the contract we had to undertake the construction of a new front entrance. This was procured under a contractor’s design element of the contract. We initially had to create a new path to a fire exit which was used as a temporary entrance for the building users. We then had to employ our specialist designers to design structural steel work and our CAD technician undertook the architectural element of the design which was submitted to the client for approval. We then horded off the area from the building users and demolished the old front entrance.
The works involved excavating and installing a new foundations and slab. We then had to install a structural steel frame, and roof timbers and a bauder roofing system. We then installed a curtain walling, intercom. M&E upgrades and automatic doors.
